So, as an avid user of Apple's OS X, I understand that my gaming experience can be quite limited. However, there is a
movement taking place. It appears that some of the team that developed
WINE has been working on a similar idea for OS X. That idea is
CIDER. The first game that uses this technology is
Heroes of Might & Magic V. Now, I know those games are supposedly the
experience in so far as fantasy strategy goes. However, the quandry I'm in is, support the movement and buy a game that I may not even play, or let it go and hope it catches on. I don't like the second of those two options, but I would really like to see more mainstream releases for the Mac platform. With the
Havok engine on appearing on the Mac, this means that games like Half Life 2, Battlefield 2142, and even Painkiller could make an entry into OS X. However, there must be a suitable demonstration of this idea's popularity for such an
extreme event to occur.
Now, I know that no one here is a windows fan boy, and I do recognize that each platform has its strengths and weaknesses. However, as a gamer, should I suck it up, get the game, and put my money where my mouth is? Or should I slack off and hope that CIDER gains momentum?
